A Linux VPS on Vpster is a full root box over SSH. You fund the USD wallet, pick a city with stock, pick an image, and the debit takes the plan from that balance. After the debit, access is instant. The IPv4, user, and password (or the key note) land in the console and in email.
Typical login is root on port 22. The address is a dedicated IPv4, not a seat behind shared customer NAT. That matters if you run a node, a bot, or anything that should not inherit a neighbour's reputation.
Root is yours. We do not log in to “harden” the box for you. Change the password or install your keys before you expose extra ports.
Images and RAM floors
Monthly Linux covers Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, Rocky, Alma, Fedora, Alpine, Arch, Kali, CloudLinux, openSUSE, and FreeBSD. One-click apps such as WordPress and Docker sit on Ubuntu or Debian on the apps page. IceWM over XRDP is the Debian exception on that list.
Minimum RAM follows the image. Pick the plan first, then the image. The catalog blocks a choice that does not fit.
- Fedora and Kali want 2 GB
- Many current Debian, Alpine, Rocky, and Arch builds want 1 GB
- A 512 MB Spark plan will not offer those images
First login
ssh root@YOUR.IPV4Put your own key in authorized_keys and disable password login if that is your policy. Leave 22 open to the world only if you accept that risk. Restrict it if you can.
If you lose the secret later, reset password on the instance page keeps the disk and issues a new one. Rebuild and change OS wipe the filesystem. Take a snapshot first, or copy off what you care about, before you click those.
What we do not include
We do not sell a managed Linux desk. Lawful use still applies — read the Acceptable use policy before you leave SSH on the public internet. Attacks, scanners, open relays, and unsolicited bulk email are not “set and forget.”
Renewals debit the same wallet. You get reminder mail for the three days before the charge. If the balance cannot cover the period, the host VM can be destroyed when the period ends. A desk hold is a separate path.
Start from Linux or Deploy after the wallet has at least $20.
