Resize is for a live monthly box. Open the instance page and choose Resize. CPU, RAM, and disk can grow. They cannot shrink. The USD wallet pays the difference. The renewal date stays.
This is not a new deploy. The IPv4 and the disk stay. You are not buying a second instance to “move up.” If you wanted a smaller plan, destroy and deploy again — that is a new disk, and unused prepaid time is not refunded.
You cannot shrink a plan to pocket unused RAM. Resize goes up only.
What the wallet pays
After resize, the remainder of this period is billed at 50% of the host hourly rate × 720 for the new size. The next renewal uses the new monthly price. Keep enough credit on the wallet before you click, or the host will refuse the change.
Spark, Nano, and Starter are Linux-only. If you resize into Core (4 GB) or above, Windows and cPanel become available on a later change OS — and change OS wipes the live disk. Take a snapshot first if you still want the current files.
- Resize: disk stays, plan grows, renewal date stays
- Rebuild / change OS: disk wiped, new password
- Destroy: disks and IPs gone, unused time not refunded
Before you click
- Confirm the wallet can cover the difference.
- Power the box off first when you can. A live resize can still work; a stopped box is the calmer path.
- Read the confirm text. Access after a successful resize is the same SSH or RDP you already have.
If the box is suspended, resize will not lift a desk hold. Open a ticket first. If the period already ended and the VM is gone, there is nothing left to resize — fund the wallet and deploy a new box.
