Lost the SSH or RDP secret on a live box. Open the instance menu and choose Password. The disk stays. The old secret stops working. The new one is mailed and shown in the console.
Leave both fields blank and the console picks the password. Or type your own: 12 characters or more, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol, then confirm it.
Password reset replaces the login secret. It does not install an SSH public key, and it does not reinstall the operating system.
When a new password is not enough
Linux login is root on port 22. Windows login is Administrator over RDP. The username on the instance page is the account this action updates.
If the server accepts public keys only, a new password will not open SSH until password login is allowed again. Open a ticket and send the new public key. Say that the disk should stay as it is. Tickets are watched 08:00–22:00 UTC.
Rebuild and Change OS wipe the filesystem and issue a password as part of that wipe. Use those when you want a clean image. The disk note is Rebuild wipes the disk.
If the menu is missing
A suspended instance needs funds in the wallet before this menu is available. If the period already ended, the VM is gone. Fund the wallet and deploy again.
The public list of access answers is the FAQ. Linux login after a first deploy is root SSH. Windows is RDP.
